ABOUT THE REGISTER
WHY REGISTER?
The Adoption Contact Register for Scotland is a tried and tested means for those separated by adoption to express a mutual wish to be in touch with one another.
It is also a route by which many questions can be answered and reassurances given.
WHO CAN REGISTER?
-
All people aged 16 and over, whose birth and/or adoption took place in Scotland
-
Birth mothers, birth fathers and any other birth relatives, where the adopted person’s birth and/or adoption took place in Scotland.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER REGISTRATION?
After we have received your registration form your details will be entered into the Adoption Contact Register for Scotland.
If this proves successful, and there is a link, a member of Birthlink will then contact you.
If there is no link we will advise you of this and your details will remain on the register in the hope that there may be a link in the future.
It is important that we are kept informed of any changes to your contact details, such as your name or address. This will help us if we need to contact you in the future.
